Description:
Lowndes County AL Jail is a jail located in the state of Alabama. County jail serves as either a holding cell to someone awaiting/during trail, it is a jail for short term conviction or it may serve as a holding jail while prisoner is being transferred to another facility. Some inmates are released early from these facilities due to good behavior. County jails have a good behavior program which can get you released from jail due to good compliant behavior. This program was adopted because of the overcrowded jails. Many county jails across the United States are overpopulated and it is a big issue in the nation today. Though the jail is not as harsh as a state prison, many prisoners serving time in state prison have been held at county jail previously. Violence in holding jails is much less prevalent than it is in state prison. This is because most people arrested in county jail want to serve their short time and move on without any trouble. Also, due to the low level crime inmates at county jail are arrested for, the judge may allow some to serve their sentence during the weekend in order to avoid inconvenience to their weekly schedule which may include a job or school. The jail houses new detainees everyday as inmates come and go, many which are released on bail the same day they arrested
