The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is located in Columbiana, Alabama and employs 220 personnel, of which 130 are sworn deputies, 67 are Corrections Officers and 23 are Civilian Employees. The Sheriff’s Office is the largest law enforcement agency in Shelby County and is led by Sheriff John Samaniego who is serving in his second term as Sheriff. The goal of Sheriff Samaniego and all employees is to maintain a professional service agency to assist all who live and visit Shelby County. The Sheriff’s Office is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) and the National Institute for Jail Operations (NIJO).
